Queries of general nature are covered below. You are advised to read this before approaching Coast Guard Recruitment Centre for any clarification. Procedure for Enrolment may change from time to time due to change in policy.

  1. Yes, all candidates will be issued e-admit card for Computer Based Examination if they meet the passing percentage of the respective board in the qualifying examination {Class 10th for Navik (DB), Class 12th for Navik (GD) & Diploma for Yantriks} and also meeting the other criteria of the advertisement for the said post.

  2. You might not have received the call letter due to any of the following reasons:-

    • Application not received in time by us due to internet failures.
    • Application incorrectly filled.
    • You may not be fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
    • Coast Guard did not receive the application fee in their account before closing of application
  3. Yes, the candidates have to produce the online application and e-admit card duly verified by ICG officer as follows: -
    Stage II – Duly stamped and signed e-admit card at Stage I by ICG officer
    Stage III –

    1. Duly stamped and signed e-admit card at Stage I
    2. Duly stamped and signed e-admit card at Stage II
    3. Duly stamped and signed online application at Stage II.

    Note: -Non submission of duly stamped and signed e-admit card and Online application by ICG officer at Stage II & Stage III as mentioned above will lead to cancellation of candidature on account of incomplete submission of documents. The candidates are advised not to leave the examination centers without stamping of above documents by ICG officer. The candidates are advised to retain the e-admit cards and online application duly stamped by ICG officer till induction in service at INS Chilka.

  5. The candidate can apply for the post of Navik (GD), Navik (DB) and Yantrik (Electrical/ Mechanical /Electronics / Telecommunication (Radio/ Power)) Engineering. However, The candidate can apply for only one post i.e either Navik (DB) or Navik (GD) or Yantrik(Electrical) or Yantrik (Electronics / Telecommunication (Radio/ Power)) or Yantrik (Mechanical) in one cycle. The candidature of candidate will be cancelled if multiple applications are applied by the candidate for more than one post in response to one advertisement and the fee will not be refunded.

  6. You are eligible to apply for 10th pass Recruit where you can join as Enrolled Personnel {Navik (DB) (Stewards, cooks)} and Enrolled Follower (sweeper/ safaiwala). Recruitment for Enrolled Follower is not carried out through online website. It is generally conducted locally at CG headquarters through Employment Exchange as per the vacancy released to the regions/ units.

  7. An Appeal is permitted for medically unfit candidates after the final enrollment medical examination at INS Chilka and will be given an opportunity to appeal against the findings if they so desire at INHS Kalyani, Visakhapatnam at his own expenses within a maximum period of 12/21 days or as decided by INS Chilka.

  8. All the candidates can apply for only one post as per the eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement. The candidature of candidate will be cancelled if multiple applications are submitted by the candidate for more than one post in response to one advertisement and the fee will not be refunded.

  9. You will be paid from the day you are enrolled in Indian Coast Guard. Your first salary may take a while to be paid to you as there will be requirement of submitting certain documents and open a bank account.

  10. You will not be provided any free warrant/money for the journey from your home station to Chilka at the time of final medical at INS Chilka.

  11. You have to deposit Rupees Forty or as directed in cash at the main branch of State Bank of India in your city in the account of CDA (Navy) Noida. The bank will acknowledge the receipt. You are to submit the receipt at the medical hospital, you have been directed to report along with your medical review certificate.

  12. You don't have to do anything. You have to wait for the declaration of the merit and check the same in your login dashboard.

  13. Recruitment in Indian Coast Guard is an online application based examination. Open recruitment rallies are generally not conducted.

  14. The promotion till the rank of a 'Uttam Navik' is on a time scale basis. The promotion to Pradhan Navik and above is vacancy based. All promotions are subject to your clearing the required qualification course /exams on time and meeting the sea service, physical and medical requirement for your branch.

  15. Yes you are eligible, provided the Board/University is mentioned in the COBSE (Council of Board of School Education) list. The same can be checked in website https://www.cobse.org.in

  16. No, there is no age relaxation for Navik(GD/DB)/Yantrik recruitment in Indian Coast Guard for Graduate/Post Graduate candidates or for any other courses.

  17. No, there is no reservation for any Sportsman in the Selection Test for Navik(GD/DB)/ Yantrik recruitment in Indian Coast Guard.

  18. Reason for rejection during document verification is as follows:-
    1. Name of candidate in the e-admit card/ application is not as per 10th certificate, 12th certificate, Diploma certificate, photo ID card, SC/ST/OBC/EWS Certificate and any other certificate uploaded in application.
    2. Date of Birth of candidate in the e-admit card/ application is not as per 10th certificate, 12th certificate, Diploma certificate, photo ID card, SC/ST/OBC/EWS Certificate and any other certificate uploaded in application.
    3. Father Name of candidate in the e-admit card/ application is not as per 10th certificate, 12th certificate, Diploma certificate, photo ID card, SC/ST/OBC/EWS Certificate and any other certificate uploaded in application.
    4. Non submission of required original documents.
    5. Expired Caste/ EWS / OBC (non creamy layer) certificate.
    6. OBC (non creamy layer) certificate not as per Central Govt. format.
    7. Educational document issued by unauthorised board/ university.
    8. Wrong Category (SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ EWS/ UR) mentioned in application form by the candidate and not duly supported with documents.
    9. The marks for each subject and the aggregate percentage mentioned in the application not matching with the supporting documents submitted by the candidates. Thereby, leading to false information in the application form. False information in application leads to cancellation of candidature.
    10. Photograph in the application form does not match with the candidate.
    11. Signature in the application/ e-admit card does not match at the time of written examination at designated exam centre.
    12. Not in possession of original valid proof of identity such as passport or driving license or Aadhar card or Voter I-Card or Pan Card as submitted in application during various stages of recruitment.
    13. Not in possession of coloured printed application and e-admit card
    14. For Navik (GD), if the candidate is declared as Fail in Maths and Physics even if the candidate is declared as pass in grade 12 by the respective board.
    15. Not meeting the age criteria as mentioned in the advertisement for the said post.
    16. Mismatch of your biometric with written examination record.
    17. Non-reporting on the day/time of Stage I, Stage II and Stage III.
    18. Non submission of ‘’expired & renewed’’ category certificates (ST/ SC/ EWS/ OBC( non-creamy layer) at stage II.
    19. The Xerox copy of document submitted during stage II not matching with the documents uploaded in the online application.
    20. Mismatch in the candidates name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, Date of Birth, photo ID number in the photo Id card and the details as submitted in online application.
    21. The documents uploaded in online application are not correct or uploaded incorrectly. For example uploading 10th class pass certificate in place of uploading 12th class pass certificate.
    22. The 10th class pass certificate number not matching with the details submitted in online application.
    23. Any mismatch in information as provided in online application and supporting documents.
    24. Non submission of documents as mentioned at para 12 of E-admit card of candidate selected for stage-II Examination will lead to cancellation of candidature and candidate will not be allowed to appear in the exam.
    25. Any other discrepancy/mismatch in Certificates and information in application form.
    26. Any false declaration in application.

  21. The candidate's selection pertaining to a particular batch is valid for that batch only. Qualified candidates whose names do not appear in the final select list cannot claim admission for the next batch. These candidates will have to undergo the selection procedure afresh provided that they meet the eligibility criteria for the fresh batch.

  22. The merit list is prepared on all India basis and not Zone wise. The recruitment zones are designated only for administrative reasons.

  23. You cannot apply for more than one post. Your candidature will be cancelled if multiple applications are received for more than one post in response to one advertisement and the fee will not be refunded.

  26. No.

  27. Qualifying in Physical Fitness Test is mandatory for selection. PFT will consist of 1.6 Km run to be completed in 7 minutes, 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak) and 10 Push-ups. The run, squats and pushups are to be completed without any break. Candidates undergoing PFT will do so at their own risk and will not claim any compensation from Indian Coast Guard for any injury occurring during PFT due to negligence by themselves or any Government Personnel.

  28. Entry level Medical standards are as per advertisement for respective batches. Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors as per medical standard prescribed in current regulations applicable to Navik(GD/DB)/Yantrik on entry.

  29. Yes, You can appear at the Chennai centre or any other centre as per your preference in the application form if you are an UR or OBC or EWS Candidate.

    Instructions to SC/ST candidates regarding choice for centre for examination. The first choice for centre of examination for SC/ST candidates has to be within 30 Km from their place of current address from where the candidate will appear for exam. If no “examination centre” is within 30 Km from the current address then the nearest “examination centre” from current/permanent address has to be the first choice of the candidate.

  30. The application/examination fee for UR/EWS/OBC(Non creamy) candidates is Rs. 250/-. SC/ST candidates are exempted from paying the application/examination fee. The applicants can pay the examination fee by Credit/debit card/net banking of all banks. For further details, Please click here

  32. No, every candidate has to give written test.

  33. There is no additional marks for NCC certificate in written test.
  34. Merely obtaining passing marks in the written test is not sufficient for issue of E-Admit Card for Stage II (PFT). E-Admit Card for Stage II (PFT) are issued to candidates who meet the cut off criteria applied for Stage II (PFT) as per merit. The cutoff marks for Stage II will be announced on ICG website.

  35. Merely obtaining passing marks in Stage I and Stage II is not sufficient for issue of E-Admit Card for Stage III. E-Admit Card for Stage III are issued to candidates who meet the cut off criteria applied for Stage III as per merit. The cutoff marks for Stage III will be announced on ICG website.

  36. There is no waiting list maintained while publishing the result for Stage III (final medical examination at INS Chilka).

  37. False information in the application even filled inadvertently leads to cancellation of candidature. Hence, your request for change of category will not be approved and your candidature will be cancelled.

  38. Your candidature will be cancelled and you will be debarred from appearing in future Coast Guard recruitment examination. You will be handed over to police and FIR/ Criminal proceedings will be initiated against you.

  40. Domicile Certificate decides the zone of the candidate.

  41. The document verification is carried out at multiple stages of recruitment process. The common causes for failing in document verification are mentioned here. You might have cleared the document verification during PFT due to oversight by the concerned recruitment officer. You would be informed about the reason for your failure in document verification by the concerned recruitment officer at INS Chilka.

  43. The certificate which defines your character is Character Certificate. You have to get it issued from any one of Police/ Revenue Official/Head Master/ Principal of recognized school/ college/ Sarpanch /Armed Forces Commissioned Officers (Active List) and Any Gazetted Officer. The validity of this certificate will be 6 months from the date of Signing Authority. Click here to download.

  44. If you do not have the certificate and mark sheet on the day of application then you are not eligible to apply. All the documents have to be issued on the closing date of the application or any date prior to the closing date of the application.

  45. Please check your internet speed and see whether you have updated internet browser-Google Chrome/Internet Explorer etc. Still If you are not able to submit from your Home-PC, go to internet cafe where you will get good speed.

  46. Write an e-mail from your registerd e-mail id quoting registration number on "icgcell[at]cdac[dot]in" with proof of deduction of money from your account.

    • The candidate has to give details of all the subjects considered by the respective Board of Education for calculation of aggregate percentage. In case of CGPA/ grading system, the aggregate percentage should be calculated by the candidate in accordance with the conversion formula used by the Board. Candidate will be required to upload the conversion formula of the board prior Stage II (if shortlisted for Stage II). The aggregate percentage has to be calculated up to three decimal places without rounding off. E.g. if your aggregate percentage as per conversion formula is 63.3779 then the candidate has to fill “63.377 ONLY" and " NOT 63.378".
    • Few boards consider all the subjects taken by the candidate for calculation of aggregate percentage. In that case you will write all the subjects and the marks/grades/CGPA obtained in order to calculate the aggregate percentage.
    • Few boards consider only the top few subjects among all the subjects taken by the candidate for calculation of aggregate percentage. E.g. Maharashtra board may consider only top 5 subjects for calculation of aggregate percentage, even if candidate has taken 7 subjects in class 12th. In this case the candidate will write the details of only the 5 subjects in the online application considered by the Board for calculation of aggregate percentage.
    • Navik (GD) candidates always have to submit details of Physics and Mathematics as subjects in class 12th for calculation of aggregate percentage.
    • It must be ensured that the aggregate percentage mentioned in the online application matches with the aggregate percentage of the mark sheet issued by the board in all cases.
  47. After submission of Online Registration form and deduction of fees, a Registration Number will be generated and same will be communicated to your registered Mobile number and Email Id.

    The Hall Ticket Number, date & time of reporting at the centre is mentioned in the Admit Card which is generated at a later point of time. You will come to know these details once the Admit Card is generated. You shall visit ICG’s registration website and check the details in Candidate Login. You may need to regularly visit website for Admit Card availability date.

  48. Examination city will be displayed in candidate's login at least 10 days prior to Stage-I. The E-admit card with exact Examination Centre address will be available in Candidate login within 02-03 days prior to examination and will also be sent to registered email id only.

  49. Once the payment is made, no details can be changed.

  50. The candidate’s registered email id cannot be changed. However, if the candidate register through new Email id, the candidature will be cancelled due to multiple applications for more than one post in response to one advertisement and the fee will not be refunded.

  51. Try making payment with another payment gateway option given in your login.

  52. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances.

  53. If multiple payments are received from a candidate against single application, then that will be refunded back to the originating account after closing of registration and re-conciliation of all payment records with the Bank.

  54. You shall try to make payment again, though alternate mode of payment for successful submission of application forms within the registration window. However fees is auto refunded for the failed transaction into the originating account. Please wait for 15 working days for automatic refund of money to your account and check transaction status in originating account.

  55. Payment can be made through online mode by using Net banking or by using Visa/ Master/ Maestro/ Rupay Credit/Debit Card/ UPI.

    1. On Forgot Password page,Go to Sign-In page, Login with registered email id and System generated password.
      1. Enter registered email id
      2. Choose the option for Password recovery i.e. OTP via either email or SMS
      3. Click to Generate OTP, If OTP is not received within 120 sec then Click to Regenerate OTP
      4. Once OTP is received, Enter OTP
      5. Enter correct Captcha as displayed in the image
      6. On successful Submit, the Candidate will receive a system-generated password on the registered email id
    2. The candidate will redirect to the reset password page, he can reset the password and continue to use it for further logins
    3. New Password should not be the same as system-generated password and Last Password used for logins
  56. Invalid credentials due to candidate are either putting wrong user id or wrong password.

  57. After login on result page only marks are displayed, download option are not available. Candidate can save screen if they want.

  58. To reset password candidate need to follow rule as below, if candidates are not following rule then password can not be reset

    1. Maximum password length should be 16 characters
    2. Minimum 1 upper case character, 1 lower case, 1 number and 1 special character must be use
